The Ulster Unionist Westminster candidate for West Tyrone, Alicia Clarke, has welcomed the news that two men are being questioned regarding the 2011 murder of Constable Ronan Kerr.
Alicia Clarke said:
“The murder of Constable Ronan Kerr was a cowardly attack committed by violent dissident republicans who are intent on dragging our society back to the past.
“At the time the news shocked everyone in Omagh and the murder was widely condemned by all sections of our community right across Northern Ireland.
“I therefore welcome the news that one man has been arrested in Omagh, while another has been transferred from prison to police custody for questioning.
“It is absolutely crucial that whoever is responsible for the murder of Ronan Kerr is brought to justice.
“Our brave police officers who serve the entire community, should not be subject to violence.
“We must send a strong message that terrorism has no place in our society.”
